The Stella McCartney Falabella shoulder bag has quickly become an iconic and stylish everyday handbag that any fashionista couldn’t live without. There is a Falabella handbag for everyone, from bold colours to metallics and everyday shades, we thought we had seen them all. But when we spotted this gorgeous new salmon pink colour on the shelf of Selfridges, we just couldn’t contain our excitement. Spring will soon be here (believe it or not) and the Stella McCartney Falabella shoulder bag in salmon pink is what we will be wearing!

Is it practical? 

Yes! Yes! Yes! This bag just oozes practicality and versatility. Slouchy, soft and spacious these bags can fit more than you would think. Ipads, diaries and even a small laptop could comfortably fit in the Falabella. Additionally, if heading out for drinks after work, this bag can be folded down and carried as a clutch for the ultimate casual but oh-so-stylish look. In a nutshell, this bag can be as jam-packed or as empty as you like and it will never lose its shape. AND, it has an inside pocket!

Stella McCartney has an array of awards under held belt including, being listed as one of Telegraph’s the most powerful women in Britain in 2011, British Designer of the Year 2012 and Designer of the Year at the British Style Awards in November 2007. Everything Stella creates is eco-friendly and she refuses to work with fur or leather and told the Guardian in 2009: “I find it astounding, because fashion is supposed to be all about change but they just don’t care about the environment, I think a lot of people in fashion are pretty heartless!”

Why do we love it? 

We have always loved the Falabella bag, mainly for it’s practicality, eco-friendliness and effortless style. But, it is the new salmon pink colour that has really got our pulses racing. A new season is almost upon us and this elegant shade of pink is the perfect colour to accompany us on our travels.

BagServant was delighted to attend the star studded event that was the British Fashion Awards 2012 on Tuesday 27th November at the Savoy Theatre – and wasn’t it a night to remember!

With a stunning live performance from Rita Ora and Alexa Chung, Stella McCartney, Manolo Blahnik CBE, Sophie Hulme and J.W Anderson all scooping awards, the theatre was jam packed full of fashion enthusiasts and Trendsetters all sporting the very best designer handbags.

We were thrilled to see so many unique and orignal bags alongside the old classics such as Chanel and Prada. 

Below are just a few of our favourite bags from style icon Alexa Chung and Olympic medallist Victoria Pendleton and others. We spot a McQueen in there!

And it wasn’t just the A-listers carrying fab handbags. We spotted many stylish bloggers carrying gorgeous unique handbags, it was almost impossible to tell the high-street bags from the designer ones! Below, Sarah Tippett from The Fashion Ache carrying a cute black clutch.

Q: Hi Hollie, Tell us how would you describe your personal style?

A: Sometimes I’m a sucker for glamour but more often than not my style is minimalist – built with staple items and simple accessories. No matter what the trend, I always inject a touch of femininity. 

Q: Who are your style icons?

A: I tend to get inspiration more from magazines and their photo shoots. In terms of bloggers I admire Emily Schuman, Rumi Neely and Lily Melrose. Celebrity wise Nichole Richie, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Olivia Palermo.

Q: What is in your handbag today?

A: Apart from my purse of course, my hairbrush, a black pen, a leopard print umbrella, Wrigley’s Extra Gum, House of Harlow Tortoiseshell sunglasses, Toni & Guy Classic Shine Gloss Serum, Elegant Touch Brush on nail Glue, and a variety of make-up including Clinique Superbalm Motorising Gloss and a Mac lipstick in Velvet Teddy.

Q:What does your handbag say about you and which BagServant personality do you fit best?

A: From BagServant’s personality choices I came out best suited to Confident Classique as I would say my style is more minimalist. I like my bags to be three things: practical, trendy and timeless. The fact I prefer more understated things says I’m self-assured with my style but my feminine side and love for detailing also means I am sensitive but confident with a professional approach.

Q: Finally If money was no object what handbag would you love to own?

A:Stella McCartney’s Falabella chain shoulder bag in grey – it combines slouchy and understated with quality detailing and to top it off it is also Eco friendly.

There are pro’s and con’s for both! Jane’s Harlow Clutch has 2 main compartments as opposed to Stella’s that only has one. However, the sparkly metallic finish on Stella’s clutch is dazzling and has more of a glittery finish. From two ends of the market, they are both deliciously yummy – pick your favourite!

Hey there lovely followers!

How are you all doing? What a week it’s been! With team GB doing such a great job at the Olympics I was absolutely delighted when I got the chance to spend the day at the stadium last week. First of all, I must say the hard-work that the volunteers have put in is amazing and they are doing a wonderful job! The stadium is also such a beautiful sight and the atmosphere there is electric. I didn’t ever think I’d get so into the games, but it seems unavoidable not to be ridiculously patriotic!

Anyway, I had a bit of a dilemma. The day I went to watch the games I had a dinner party that evening that I had been looking forward to for months. It was supposed to be a really posh affair and a chance to network with some influential people. What with having to trek to the other side of London and the transport being a little behind at the moment I knew I wouldn’t have a chance to go home and change. I didn’t want to miss out on either event so I racked my brains for an outfit and a bag that could easily be transformed from day to night.

In the end I settled for a maxi dress with flip flops for the games and decided to pack some heels, jewellery and make-up to quickly transform my look from day to night on the train. But what bag could I possibly take that would fit my heels and daily essentials but still look smart and sophisticated for the dinner party?

My loyal and classic Stella McCartney Black Falabella Tote Faux Fur shoulder bag did not let me down! It really is such a must-have! When I bought it my bank balance really hated me for a while – but I have since proved it wrong as I have had so much use out of it already and am confident I’ll be using it for years to come.

The great thing about this bag is that it’s foldable. In the day it was packed with a bottle of water, an umbrella (unpredictable British weather!), my heels for the evening, make-up, wallet, phone and snacks! But by the time I had taken the shoes out and thrown away the empty bottle, I was able to fold the bag into a clutch. Someone at the dinner party even commented on how much they liked it – I was chuffed!

So all in all, a very successful (albiet tiring!) day! Only negative was there wasn’t much food I could eat at the dinner – I know I am way too fussy! But luckily, after a little light complaining I was given some free wine and that kept me more than happy for the rest of the night!

2) Monochrome prints

As seen by Versace, Moschino and Roberto Cavalli on the catwalks lately, monochrome prints are coming back with a bang next season. The prints add glamour to any outfits and here at BagServant we are loving the Paul Smith Accessories Swirl Aqua Bowling bag.

3) Perfect Purple 

A purple haze descended on the Autumn 12 international shows in each of the major cities recently. In London, Christopher Kane showcased his collection on a lavender carpet, with knitwear and dress details taking on the shade. While in Milan, Gucci also showcased a number of purple accessories. Being the girly girls that we are – we are utterly delighted that the colour has catapulted back into our lives. We love this Jimmy Choo Glitter Clutch!

4) Faultless Fur

Fur – an age old fashion trend that just won’t die. Autumn 2012 will see the arrival of many new fur bags in the high-street and on the catwalk – from the puffball effect clutches to the short-haired shoulder bags, they are the ‘one’ to carry this winter. Astrakhan in particular, a close-cropped, wavy lamb fur, is making a big noise in the fashion industry at the moment – but all types of fur are hitting the shops so take your pick from our collection. This Givenchy Pandora Fur bag makes us instantly fall in love with the trend!

5) Mismatch  

Last but not least, we have BagServant’s personal trend prediction. Our team has been out and about over the last few months at events such as Wimbledon and Ascot and has noticed a new trend amongst the public – mismatching. Back in the day it was considered a crime to leave the house if your shoes and bag didn’t match! But fear not fashion followers, this rule seems to no longer apply. With the credit crunch still very much apparent in our everyday lives it seems as though it is now ok to mismatch shoes and bags with outfits and hats. Last season’s dress can simply be renovated by adding a new and stylish accessory from this season.
