Now we don’t know about you, but didn’t yesterday feel like the first day of spring? As temperatures soared upwards of 17 degrees, suddenly I found myself dreaming of a life without black opaque tights, huge heating bills and that extra half a stone we all pile on during winter.
So, as the build up to summer begins I thought it was only fair to share with you some of my absolute favourite sunny handbags. These gorgeous designs are bound to get you in the mood for wine sprtizers by the river, short shorts and park picnics.
So first off, the Mulberry Holiday Bayswater in Lemon Sorbet at £895. No summer list could be complete without it. It’s one of the newest styles to join the Bayswater familyand I love the instant power this shade brings. If you’ve checked out our How to style a pastel palette post, you’ll know exactly how I’d wear this bag. But in case you haven’t, let me fill you in. A crisp lemon tote works well with a classic or minimalist wardrobe. Team this Bayswater with a pair of black cigarette pants and a simple white shirt. A pop of citrus yellow will really awaken a formal office outfit, but look just as charming worn low-key with a summer dress and glittery flip-flops.
My second summer handbag is another classic, remodelled to put a spring in our step. The Givenchy Antigona at £1,325 is THE structured dome bag. We love this clean white shade to put an elegant spin on an otherwise dominating style. Contrast the shape with a free-flowing maxi skirt or florals for a whimsical and girlie outfit. Or go for all-round corporate by pairing with a sleek suit, and designer sunglasses for that high-end Italian look.
My final choice is an eclectically patterned bag from John Lewis at only £59. The Desigual Print Bag structured satchel shape makes it an easy to wear design, ideal for add some excitement to a work outfit, or teaming with a block colour dress for cocktails with the girls. I love the explosion of reds in the graphic print, they instantly warm me up! I’ll be wearing this bag with a crisp white tuxedo jacket and plain black shift dress.
