Watching the A-listers waltz down the red carpet last night I fell in love with a number of things. Aside from George Clooney’s ever-growing handsomeness, and Michelle Williams’s coral Louis Vuitton dress, my eyes were lovingly diverted (like a magpie) to the amount of glitzy, glamorous sparkle in the handbag department.
Now, I’m all for a clutch, in fact I’m all for oversized clutches worn as day-wear (try it, it’ll make you feel like a celebrity, all be it one that travels on the Piccadilly Line), but I feel that if you’re about to ambush the world’s biggest awards ceremony you may as well go all out with your bag as well as your dress.
Gold is the ultimate go-to, as proved by Emma Stone, Milla Jovovich and the leading lady from the night – Meryl Streep. It adds that old Hollywood glamour that’s so in Vogue right now, to any lavish gown, and I love that. So as much as I kid myself, no, I won’t be attending any fabulous red carpet events, but I WILL be inundated with summer weddings, cocktail parties and maybe the odd black tie event so why not choose classic princess chic? It’s either that or a one-trend wonder, and yes tangerine, that was aimed at you.
