Crafted from natural tanned leather and given a tough-girl edge thanks to the gold rivets that embellish the front of the bag, this  Jane Goodchild Studded Garbo tote is perfectly sized to accommodate all that you need during your working day. As well as a front slip pocket, it features a leather trimmed interior zip pocket, mobile phone slip pockets and of course comes complete with Jane Goodchild logo jacquard lining.

This was the favourite for my colleague Becky (definitely a Big Bag Lover) who swiftly picked it up and walked across the office to see if it would comfortably contain her laptop – which it did.

When and Where is it Perfect for?

This is definitely one to accompany you to the office and is striking enough not to blend in with everyone else’s bags.  The flat metal studs will protect the bottom from daily use and the leather is supple enough that it will age beautifully.  The pleasing feature on this one?  The fact that the end of the main zip discretely clips itself to the body of the bag via a hidden magnet – genius!

Interior

The interior of the Studded Garbo is finished in gold jacquard featuring a repeat pattern of the Jane Goodchild logo.  All of the interior pockets are leather trimmed and the zip-pulls are very tactile and high quality.

Material

The studded Garbo is made from natural tanned leather and is silky to the touch.   The handles are beautifully finished and sturdy enough to carry the weight of its contents without ruining the clean lines of the bag.

Best Colour to Pick

This bag comes in Ruby and Tan and we liked them both but in the end we settled on the Ruby as it gave an instant boost to Becky’s black ensemble and even worked with her coral shoes!

BagServant’s Thoughts

A stand-out tote that would bring a welcome splash of colour and glamour to any boardroom.  The only thing we might like to see is the option of a should-strap but that aside it ‘works’ for us!

Crafted from supple leather with a luminous gold sheen, the Jane Goodchild Harlow clutch is a generous sized clutch that contains two main zipped compartments which are the perfect size to store your phone, lipstick and invites to the after-party.  Its additional inner and outer zipped compartments mean that it’s spacious enough to act as a purse too and the tassels add a playful counterpoint to the clean lines of the bag.

I was going to add that there is a handy pocket for your Oyster card but let’s get real – if you’re wearing this bag, you’ll be arriving by cab or (even better) being chauffeured!

When and Where is it Perfect for?

This is an elegant bag and as such needs to be seen at all the right parties, dinner-dates and cocktail hours.  It’s sophisticated enough to work with a beautifully tailored suit, pretty enough to accessorise a cocktail dress and has enough glamour in the sparkle of its gold leather to go with a full-on gown. (Perfect for a Glamourpuss or Trendsetter!)

Interior

The interior of the Harlow is finished in gold jacquard featuring a repeat pattern of the Jane Goodchild logo.  Very pleasingly, even the zip-pull on the internal pocket is a solid ‘pebble’ showcasing the Cuban-inspired star that is Jane’s trademark.

Material

The bag is constructed of 100% leather with rounded edges (so no snagging your award-winning dress!).

Best Colour to Pick

This bag only comes in Antique Gold and when you come across a gold that shimmers in the way this one does – it almost looks like it contains glitter particles – why on earth would you want it in any other shade?

Oh my, what a way to start the week; with a delivery of not one, but three beautiful Jane Goodchild bags.

Evidently still basking in the glow of the BAFTA and Oscar award ceremonies, the bag details are in a gold envelope sealed with a black ribbon.  When someone takes their stationery this seriously, you know that you’re about to be treated to some high quality handbags.

After working through the gift-wrapping, my colleagues and I were greeted by a symphony of silver-screen sirens in handbag form – the Monroe, the Harlow and the Garbo.  It is fair to say there was lots of excitement and pulling of straws for who was going to inspect which handbag first.

Before we review them one-by-one, it is worth saying that being able to see three bags from Jane Goodchild’s collection at once was a fantastic way to experience the brand and get a sense for her approach to design and aesthetics.  All three of the bags were beautifully crafted, had inspired finishing touches in the use of tassels, soft-closing magnetic fastenings and her signature ‘star’ stamp, and, perhaps most importantly, were designed not only to look good but to be used!  In each instance we could see a clear reason or event that the bag would work perfectly for.

And then you realise why they’re so good:  Jane has a fifteen year heritage as a designer working with the likes of Mulberry, Calvin Klein, Loewe, and Jimmy Choo.  This lady knows how to combine luxury with great design.

We were overwhelmed and thoroughly delighted with Jane’s bags, so keep your eyes peeled for the reviews!

The large size means you can fit more in than with a regular clutch, although there are no shoulder straps to help you out as the night wears on! However, Jane is considering adding a strap onto next season’s design to help us keep our girl’s nights out looking as stylish as possible.

The timeless shape, colour and style of the Harlow makes it one of our all time favourite clutch bags, and still the best alternative to the pricey Stella McCartney Falabella. Versatile and easy to match with any outfit, this is the must-have bag to kick start 2013.

Jane has been at the forefront of the fashion design industry for well over 15 years. Graduating at Ravensbourne College with a degree in Fashion & Textiles, Jane was selected from among thousands of graduates by Calvin Klein, to work for his iconic fashion house in New York. During her five years with this global brand, Jane experimented with designing ladies Ready to Wear, CK shoes and Collection Handbags.

There are pro’s and con’s for both! Jane’s Harlow Clutch has 2 main compartments as opposed to Stella’s that only has one. However, the sparkly metallic finish on Stella’s clutch is dazzling and has more of a glittery finish. From two ends of the market, they are both deliciously yummy – pick your favourite!

We found the Harlow clutch to be the perfect size  to carry our everyday essentials, with two sections I found it easy to find my phone keys without any hassle. The gold suede ‘star dust’ leather gives the clutch a unique look, as it had gold reflex glitter that makes the bag look beautiful in all lighting.  As the clutch does not come with a strap so it can only be carried under your arm or with your hands.

Handbag  Interior    

The inside lining of the Jane Goodchild Harlow clutch has a soft gold grosgrain lining which not only helps the bag keep its shape but is also a durable material. It also has a leather trimmed zip pocket, a mobile phone pocket and not forgetting a slip pocket to keep your keys safe or a great place to keep your emergency lipstick.

Material

This clutch is made out of gold suede leather that gives the material of the bag a gold sparkling look. The best way to take care of the bag is by spraying it with a suede spray that will protect it from getting stained or faded.

What It Can Fit  

If you like to keep your bag organised then this clutch is brilliant as it comes with two compartments can be opened by a tassel, which is attached to the zip. This clutch fits in the over-sized category, meaning that it would be perfect for you to carry to work and carry your phone, purse, kindle, keys, your makeup and even your umbrella. If you have a little tablet, it may fit if you don’t stuck the bag with other things as well. An iPad fits in, however, you won’t be able to close it up. A great bag for all Big Bag Lovers.

Perfect For  & Wear It With                                                                                                                                                                                     

The Harlow clutch is versatile and can be worn for to any special occasion. If you are looking for a clutch to take with you for a girls night out  then this will be the perfect gold number that can be worn with a peach coloured peplum dress. You could also consider taking  it to your work place  to add to your office sophistication look if you follow the trend of the mini and maxi handbag double trouble.  This clutch would be an amazing bag to grab with you to a meeting while your maxi bag is staying at your desk.  We would also recommend carefully pick your outfit as this clutch can compliment your evening/special occassion dress. If you are planning to wear a black dress/top, please be careful as the glitters may fall off a little bit. Other gold accessories would be great match this clutch.

Bagservant Thoughts

We wore this clutch to an evening out and were really impressed that we could carry our everyday necessities, that could be easily found with the two handy compartments. However we did wish that it came with a strap as we did find that it could get slightly heavy if we put too much in there. That said the unique gold colouring and suede/ leather effect of Jane Goodchild’s Harlow Clutch made the bag stand out and it is now my go to clutch.  Our MD is planning to carry it to Ascot this weekend. She can’t wait to show off with this lovely golden clutch. She is planning to wear a green goldish dress with a green hat which will again nicely compliment the lovely golden tone of the clutch.
