Still classed as the new kid on the block, Phillip Lim’s elegant street-style has launched him to the forefront of modern fashion. His designs reflect a certain level of romanticism whilst remaining casual and down-to-earth. His biggest fans, including the hip New York crowd and celebrities such as Kate Hudson and Natalie Portman, declare that if there’s one thing about Phillip, it’s that he knows how to dress women.
After studying at Long Beach’s Californian State University, Phillip Lim burst onto the fashion scene. With his gentle approach to clothes, the Cambodian-American designer has gained fans worldwide since his launch in 2004 and currently has over 600 boutiques spread across 45 countries.
His handbag designs completely reflect his personal opinions about female dressing. Although his bags, such as the Pashli are wonderfully structured and full of shape – more than fit for any ambitious career woman, the understated shades of mocha and black make them completely relaxed and undaunting. His functional bag names such as Camera and Portfolio illustrate how useable in everyday scenarios his designs are.
The hard-working and yet modest woman. She may bring home more money than her husband, but you’d never know. These bags are enchantingly elegant, but in a low-key, practical sort of way.
