One of the fashion world’s current darlings, Alexander Wang is still barely out of college. Epitomising laid-back, minimalist cool, his designs are adored by A-listers and fashion editors alike – plenty of distressed jeans, slouchy knits and simple vests. His “model off-duty” signature style takes influences from the Nineties, grunge and French chic.
Alexander Wang was born in San Francisco to Taiwanese parents. After starting at New York’s Parsons School of Design, he dropped out after sophomore year to showcase his first collection. Although only a few years into his career, he is tipped for fashion superstardom. His predominantly black collections, show an illustrious approach to the future of fashion.
A lot of Alexander Wang’s bags are aimed at the young and casually dressed. His slouchy, dark designs, such as the Diego are fun shaped alternatives. With its sack-like shape and simple studs it’s best worn with a good pair of jeans and relaxed t-shirt. The Marion illustrates more of a classic French vibe which makes it perfect for after work dinner and drinks with important clients.
The young, and painfully cool, city girls. You’ve got to be as carefree as the designs to pull these off as Wang’s style is all about comfort dressing in rocky pieces.
