Ever since Pippa Middleton sashayed down the aisle at her big sister’s wedding we were mesmerised – and we weren’t the only ones. Fresh and ambitious handbag company Modalu loved her just as much, and after plenty of snaps of her stepping out in their handbag designs, they renamed their classic Bristol, as the Pippa.
The brainchild of Norwegian born Marion Muhonen Nilsen, Modalu’s aim was to create handbags that had the same strong personality and identity as the wearer. The bags are couture inspired, but available at a lower price to their counterparts, remaining loyal to exquisite leathers and astonishing detail.
It’d be hard not to mention the Pippa tote. Perhaps the instant classic of 2011, the simple rectangular shape, handy outside (and inside) zips and sultry colours – black, toffee and chilli red, makes it extremely wearable. The Eton designs, both the shoulder style and daintier, long strap version, are as chic and posh as they sound. Their metal tipped envelope flaps give them a quirky twist on other formal black handbags.
The organised and middle-class woman. There’s no stray pens or old receipts littering the bottom of your handbag, and you treat you handbags as extensions of your home. You have an ample collection of simple everyday bags in soft, wearable colours that co-ordinate with your functional wardrobe.
