The latest source of inspiration in the handbag world has been found in Celine’s classic Boston and Trapeze bags. The gorgeous totes come in a whole range of colours and are famous for their signature eared shape. Originally an Autumn/Winter bag dating back to 2011, Celine’s popular designs have since become year-round favourites.

The shape looks set to continue as the tote of choice for 2013. The style has been popular amongst a whole host of designers from Reed Krakoff to Reiss, who have revealed their Celine-inspired tote that is set to appear in the store’s SS’13 collection. Now spanning all colours and price ranges, the eared bags are all the rage and all over the high street. We can’t wait to get our hands on Reiss’ two tone nude and snakeskin version, but is the look being over done?
Givenchy’s Antigona collection comes in a range of sizes as well as a plethora of shades from neutral blacks and nudes to bright oranges and blues. Folli Follie and Alexander McQueen also opted for brighter hues in their takes on the signature design, whilst the Fendi 2 Jours keeps a more sophisticated style.
Whilst we love the style, shape, and huge selection, does every designer having a pop at Celine-inspired totes devalue the original design’s uniqueness? If it’s suddenly appearing on every high street corner, the trend may fade out as quickly as it burst into the limelight. We certainly hope this won’t be the case!
