Do we really buy our bags to tell other women to stay away so we can keep our men?
New research fresh out of the US has revealed that women may not buy expensive handbags because of the luxury and design, but we in fact buy them to keep women away from our men! The research has shown that when women feel threatened by another woman coming into their partners life, for example at the office, we tend to want to splurge on big label handbags to tell the other woman to quite simply, back off!
Yajin Wang who is the assistant of Vladas Griskevicius, the professor who came up with these findings, said that when buying a new designer handbag, it essentially acts as a shield from the woman that you are feeling threatened by.
The findings have also shown that when the partner of a man is displaying their own range of designer items that woman are less likely to continue their desire for a man.
