Why Handbags?
It is my favorite accessory although shoes are a close second. I love the handbag because it’s on your arm, around your shoulder, hanging from your wrist – in short it’s probably the first thing you see and notice. I believe you can wear anything as long as you have a fabulous handbag. A handbag is what completes a woman’s ensemble. Every handbag has a unique story and forms a personal connection as it carries your possessions. It is a reflection your emotions on the inside and personality on the outside. I believe that handbags are a wonderful way to bring people together, start conversations and spark friendships.
Status comes from shoes and bags, said Tamara Mellon once, what do you think?
At Handbag Divas, we focus on style and personality. Handbags and shoes are a fabulous way to enhance one’s style and very important parts of completing a look. An outfit can be transformed from simple to chic with the right handbag and shoes. These two accessories together have the power of making a lasting impression.
What is your advice to all women when they are buying a new bag?
Here are a few questions you should ask yourself before you purchase a new handbag. Do I absolutely love it? That first emotional connection is very important. Does it make me feel special? Does it feel comfortable on my shoulder, on my wrist? Does the size of the bag match my body type? The bag should be proportional to your size. For instance, I am not a tall person. So I tend to stay away from extra large totes, which make me look even shorter. Where am I going to wear it? If I buy an evening bag, I usually buy a clutch. But if it’s a daytime bag, I lean towards a satchel or hobo. Will all of my things fit in the handbag? For example, when I buy an everyday bag I make sure it has enough pockets for all my stuff so it can be organized. Buying a new handbag is exciting and you should have fun with it. We recommend exploring new types of handbags, different textures, colors and a variety of designers.
We like to promote new designers; some people have mixed thoughts on this subject, what is your view?
We all love Chanel, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. I won’t deny it. But new designers often bring fresh ideas and creativity and produce exciting designs. Choosing a bag from a new designer can really help you standout and make a statement. I love finding diamonds in the rough. Ultimately, it is the way you carry the handbag that makes all the difference.
What is your favorite bag?
Wow, that’s a tough one. If I had to choose one it would be my gold Tory Burch. There is only one word to describe it – bold. Whenever I wear it, people notice it and I get a lot of compliments. I love the leather, the striking color, the hardware and the size. It is very roomy and I can pretty much fit everything I need in it. I also love the fact that it goes well with ethnic wear.
She loves me, she really does and I love the way she takes care of me.
Where is the most unusual place your handbag has been?
In the icebox. No jokes, I once left my Kate Spade phone wristlet in the freezer by accident. When I found it, I was so relieved that it was okay and everyone else had a good laugh.
What is your goal with Handbag Divas?
Handbag Divas is a community for women to express, share and discuss their passion for handbags. We appreciate and welcome all designers and brands. We have a simple mission – help women discover YOUnique handbags to match their PURSEnality!
Which Bag Personality are you?
Trendsetter and Confident Classique. I feel I am mix of both these ‘purse-nalities’. I love wearing unique pieces, making sure they are eye catching and everlasting.
