Last week our in-house style guru, Samantha met up with personal stylist, Lorna Wiltshire from You & Your Style (youandyourstyle.co.uk) to get her tips on one of our reader questions….
Q – I have recently had a baby and found that all my handbags are too slim and almost “work briefcase” looking…they are also very impractical! I still want to take a handbag out and don’t want to rely on just using the one bag that came with the pram as all our stuff gets mixed up together! From Jenny, London.
Lorna’s advice
A – This is a very common dilemma for new mums – suddenly some your old favourites as far as clothes, shoes and bags are not as attractive to you as they once were as they do not match up to your new lifestyle properly. Firstly it sounds as though you were using quite classic bags before, so I would not stray too far from that idea as you still want to feel comfortable and not radically change your bag style. I would say that something with a shoulder strap would certainly be useful, preferably with the option to wear across the body in case you should need hands free. Less structure than before and more storage is probably going to be key to you as well. I would opt for something fairly simple colour wise that will tune it quite happily to several colour palette options and seasons.
