Last month we discovered hot handbag designer Tissa Fontaneda, who is currently stocking bags at our favourite boutique, Wolf & Badger. We caught up with the talented designer behind the brand to discover who and what inspired her to make this fab collection…
What inspired you to create your own brand?
I wanted to be free and independent, therefore creating the bags that suit my personal taste
Where did you get the idea to create the bubble effect bags?
The idea just came to me, and the unique design embodies who I am as a person. I then worked together with my manufacturer to create the effect in the finest leather.
Do you have a personal favourite from your collection?
I wear the Simple Matter style the most – large, stylish, practical and stand-out
What are you currently working on?
I am working on new leathers & fabrics, new styles and the decoration of my new show-room in Madrid – so exciting!
What have been the most difficult moments in your design career?
The decision to leave my wonderful job at Daniel Swarovski in Paris to move to Madrid and work for Loewe.
It’s not easy to create a new luxury brand when the world is already full of such strong brands. There are difficult moments but from time to time I’ll receive an email from a fan telling me how much they love my bags, and how the Tissa Fontaneda brand really resonates with them – and the good vibe is back!
Who are your style icons and who would you like to see carrying one of your designs?
Definitely Gwyneth Paltrow. I like all women who are talented and worked hard to get where they are and she is the prime example of that. These kind of women are “my” style icons
How would you describe your personal style?
Somewhere between elegant and hippie chic!
