This week, one of our followers wanted to know how she could get a designer handbag for less. Samantha comes to the rescue with her top tips…
Q: Hi Lenka, I have a true passion for handbags and in particular designer bags. However, money has been a little tight lately and I have cut down on my spending. But my birthday is coming up and I feel like treating myself to a gorgeous new designer handbag as I haven’t bought anything for myself in so long. I long Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and Tory Burch but I don’t think my budget will stretch as I only want to spend between £200-£250 maximum and would like an everyday bag. I know that Marc Jacobs amongst others have brought out cheaper ranges and I wanted to know are they any good? Do they still look like designer bags? Thanks so much. Annie B, London.
A: Hi Annie. I understand your frustration. We all love a designer handbag and when times are tough we end up losing out on those luxuries. And the problem is, we could buy cheaper bags but then we compromise on quality and the bags don’t last as long so really we are back to square one. Yes you are right, Marc Jacobs (Marc by Marc Jacobs), Michael Kors (Michael Michael Kors), Alexander McQueen (McQ) and many others have brought out ‘diffusion ranges’ which are more affordable but not lacking in quality and they still have the same edge as their main lines. With your budget you will definitely be able to feed your handbag addiction and I think the diffusion ranges are a great way to do this. And remember, the sales are on so you might get your dream bag after all. Additionally, don’t be afraid of new designers. Their prices won’t stay low forever but if you bag it now you could have yourself a great designer bag before it becomes popular with the public! See below my suggestions and please contact me for more information. have a great birthday!
