The famous Italian fashion house Maxmara is synonymous with the idea of with pure Italian luxury and this sensually affluent brand conjures up sumptuous images of sipping a crisp glass of Pinot Grigio in a buzzing, sun drenched Italian piazza.  The Italians do elegance so very well and any one of our Maxmara handbags wouldn’t look out of place at a high end soiree!  The beauty of the Maxmara Alcali bag, and its smaller sister the Maxmara Bona bucket bag, is that they both exude the stylish Italian casual elegance that is copied worldwide.

Is it practical?

Both the Alcali bag and the Bona bucket bag are totes, and by their very nature are designed to be practical.  Although the Bona bucket bag has slightly smaller dimensions than the Alcali handbag, it is still large enough, offering a length of 30.5cm and a width of 33cm.  Both Maxmara handbags have a secure internal zip, along with two open pouch pockets and a detachable shoulder strap for busy days.  The soft luxe calf leather is supported in the main body which maintains the handbags shape but has a floppy, casual feel at the opening exposing the gorgeous contrasting suede lined rim interior.  The main difference between these two stunning handbags is size, colour choice and price.

Who wears it?

Maxmara definitely attracts a more sophisticated consumer which is why Katie Holmes, Eva Mendes and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have all recently been spotted wearing this svelte, classy brand on the red carpet.

Did you know?

An Italian gentleman called Count Max was the inspiration for the brand name Maxmara.  Founding designer, Achille Maramotti, took his own last name Mara and paired it with this local Italian Count’s name, who although was often inebriated, always kept up an immaculate sense of style.  There’s just no excuse for not looking your best!

Why do we love it?

Bucket bags have been a huge hit this Winter and that seems set to continue through into a SS13 trend.  We are still loving the bucket bag and at £538, the Maxmara Alcali handbag is our very favourite for this Summer.  The Alcali’s white leather is a Summer must and its acidic yellow suede lined opening is a subtle on trend colour touch.  The same style Bona bucket bag comes in a smaller size at a lower price of £480 but in a versatile tan colour with yellow suede rim, or in colour pop blue with orange suede rim.  So much choice!

BagServants style tips

Maxmara is all about exclusivity and quality and so doesn’t need too much dressing up.  Let these leather Maxmara handbags speak for themselves.  Keep it simple with some slim fitting, cropped tapered trousers, a loose long sleeved linen shirt and a piece of statement jewellery.  Big Bag lovers, Chic Yummy Mummy’s and Miss Practical’s will adore these classic Maxmara bucket bags.
